Go for a panasonic Tau, or something like that, sony wega has washed out looking colors. I am not a fan of the picture quality on some of the recent sony tv's.

Sony has a sucky warranty but I've never had a problem with both of my sony's - my 10 year old 20" and my 3 year old 36" wega.. They're great TVs.. Period.. Panasonic makes great sets too.. Stay away from RCAs and such.. Hmm..REAL recommendations can't really be made because you have a pretty high budget.. I'd say go for a Wega.. If money is a problem then there are other options that'll be just fine..

you should look at HDTV's; that's about it. When I was considering Direct-View CRT's, the Panasonic Tau and the Samsung (Tantus i believe?) were 2 that I were considering.

Get widescreen and hopefully 36". If not, you could consider the jump to RPTV's.

I have a Samsung 32" HDTV, and it will kill any non HDTV, especially when viewing a digital source. Just under $1000 now. You can spend the same on old technolgy and the Sony name, but if picture is what you are after this is about as good as it gets for the buck.

This bad boy right here!

not a bad set...Samsung has come a long way in the past 7 or 8 years...Shockwave, it sounds like you would prefer Sony, look into the KV-32HS500, its discontinued now, so places are blowing them out. Best Buy had it last week for 1299 with a 100 dollar gift card. We were pricematching for 1050 out the door, no GC...If you want a little lower end set, the panasonics and samsungs arent bad, but the picture quality isnt quite what the sony would be. If you want a really nice set and can swing the extra cash, check out the Samsung DLP. Its a widescreen that doesnt have the side affects of a widescreen. In other words, no burn in, great picture, and if it dies, just replace the lightbulb!

32" is too small for eye orgasms....unless you sit like 4 feet away from it.

I would make love to my 50" Toshiba 16:9 HDTV if I could

eye orgasms dont come until you reach the 60" plus size. Those are viewable from across a basketball court.

I spose eye orgasms could be had with 50 inch hdtv size also.

Forgot to add, JCPENNY is clearancing their old models and my local store in lawrence has a lot of tv/electronic stuff for sale, cheap.

The only way to get an eye orgasm with a 32" screen is with the Loewe Aconda.
It has the best deinterlacing chip on the market. It's nothing short of incredible what it does to film images.

I can vouche for the Pany's, i have the 36" HD version and its quite splendid. Except for going plasma nothing can come close to a hd tube set.

Eh, I'm not brand specific. Sony was just the choice due to the fact my friend work(ed) for them and could get a discount. No more though.
32"? Well, its the ferfect size IMO. I hate moving furniture. 32" is the biggest I really wanna be moving around. Anything bigger becomes a real PITA when you go to move.
