recommend Laser/Radar Detector?

"laser jammer", lol, good luck with that one.

Your #1 best way to avoid getting pulled over is to keep it under the limit. Your #1 practical way is to keep it to 5-7 over, depending on the flow of traffic. If you must speed like mad, keep your eyes open, and if it feels "wrong" stop speeding. Try to make sure there's a "rabbit" in the area--someone going faster than you.

If you want to spend hundreds of dollars on fancy equipment, get a Valentine One or Escort 8500, and one of those nice illegal license plate covers that dissapates light and makes your plate illegible to red-light cameras. Then prepare to hire a lawyer when you get nailed by a laser, and the cop yanks your license for going 50 over with illegal equipment installed.

:thumbsup:

going on general in NY area (except some cheapo counties bent on getting more revenue like Nassau and Westchester) 10-15mph is fine. like this guy said find a speeder or 2 and just follow them, cops usually pull the first offender leading the pack.

the speed limit is there for a reason, and that's why i never go above 25 over posted limit. if you're 30 over you deserve to be ticketed because frankly that is NOT safe.

Sure buddy. You just make sure you keep your slow ass to the right of me when I blow past you on your left. 😉

<= Hasn't gotten a ticket in years.

Im just tired of getting snagged for doing 81-85 in a 65. a 400 dollar investment now can save me many times taht in tickets, lost work time for traffic court, insurance hikes etc.

Here's a solution.. Just obey the limit. Don't wanna be late? Leave 5 min. earlier.

thats just not realistic for me. I've thought about it but it doesnt work. I don't feel safe sitting behind a mini van doing the speed limit.

where do you live? if you're going with the flow 81-85 in a 65, you normally won't get pulled.

if there is some traffic, and everyone else is at 65-70 and you're heading left and right like a fast and furious movie going at 85, (and it wont help if you're driving a pimped out escalade, a convertible, M5, maserati or whatever nice sports car it is these days, you can afford the car you can afford ticket for going 55 in a 54) you deserve to be ticketed

use common sense and go with the flow.

No dont get me wrong. I'm not the guy weaving in and out of traffic during the rush hour creating dangerous situations for others on the road. If there is traffic I go with the flow. Sometimes late at night or just on certain highways there are open patches of roadway for miles. For example I was driving to syracuse and during the week day that road is empty and straight I got ticketed for 81 in a 65 and there was no one else around. Other times there is a clump of cars all going the same speed not letting anyone pass or get ahead even though there is nothing but free highway in front of them....so I want to accelerate and go around all of them and not have to worry about my speed when making the pass.

The interstates are designed to allow travel at up to 15MPH over the posted limit (which remember, at their inception was 70 or 75mph) so you should be safe as far as driving in broad daylight at 85-90mph. Your car, the lightin conditions, and other factors have a big affect though. Also, always drive with yar brights if going 45 or faster unless under street lgihts or there are cars around that would prohibit it. The reason should be obvious, but any faster than 45mph and you're outdriving your headlights.

wow so the speed of light is 45mph? 😀😛
its designed for over 15mph over posted limit under sporadic traffic conditions. if there is traffic (even if its moving well), it will become dangerous for you to shift lanes left and right passing people on either side going at a speed too fast for the traffic flow

If you really want full protection it's gonna be around $1000 for a Bel STI and an Escort (same company as Bel) laser jammer.

I've been very impressed with my 8500, it can pick them up miles away.

They're using laser here and it would be nice to have something that would render that ineffective.

After spending all the cash on the toys, remember;

Relying on devices tends to make you lazy (as far as keeping an eye out for signs of enforcement) AND there's still a lot of VASCAR out there.

VASCAR doesn't emit, it's a timing system: push the button when you cross line (or object) #1 push the button again when you pass line (or object) #2. If it takes less time than pre-calculated (plus some tolerance), you get a ticket.

They can run it from an airplane, Wisconsin runs it from Ranger Towers, from an overpass ... anywhere they can see both markers.

Try leaving earlier, drive (a little) slower, enjoy the view ... relax (but keep your eyes open).

Good Luck

Scott
