Currently have a couple of quantum lm 30 giggers running in my comp. They produce a high pitched wine sound and i havent been able to get rid of it using any kind of mounting(rubber washers grommets silicon, everything.) Figured i'll just put them in a raid in my server, but i need a new hd for my main comp. Needs to be 20 gigs, 7200rpm and dead quiet.

Thanks in advance.

20GB IBM 60GXP, fastest IDE hard drive on the market. I have the 40GB model and don't hear it. Maxtors are good too, but I've found that they tend to be a bit noisier.

I like the IBM 60GXP. Quiet, fast.

If not the IBM, Maxtor's Diamond Max Plus (I think) are good too.
