Recommend HSF for Intel Q9450?

Basically its my first summer with my new mobo/cpu combo and I'm not liking the temp readings. (i think I have too much paste on anyways)

Info/requirements:
* Intel Quadcore Q9450
* NOT overclocked and never will be
* Not after the ultimate cooler, just something that is better (cooler/quieter) than the factory HSF
* Prefer to avoid the superheavy coolers. I know weight and cooling kinda go together but hopefully theres a medium weight cooler out there to handle stock cpu speeds?
* Strongly prefer use backing plate/bracket system because I really hate the stock clip/push pin system. I prefer it to be absolutely secure.

Any assistance is well appreciated.

Been looking at...

Zigmatek HDT-S1283(not too keen since it only uses push-pin installation like factory)

Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (again, only using push-pins)

I know the ones mentioned above might contradict with some of my "requirements/preference" mentioned earlier but I realise you cant have it both ways. That said, if you think another HSF is worth investigating, please let me know.

Extra stuff if anyones interested...

Using HWmonitor software from the makers of CPUz...
Basically did some test rendering in a 3d app and the max temp showed up as 103c! It idles around 48/51c. This isnt helped by the fact that the BIOS shows the idle temp as 68/70c instead. Basically it "appears" to run wayyy too hot.

That said, its never cause me any problems, I've played/clocked Bioshock/GearsOfWar and play STALKER and COD4 on it quite often... BUT... that was all during the cooler months. Not sure if its crappy installation or reading inaccuracy.

Ambient temp is around 22/24c as summer is slowly starting.

these are not too small either approx 5"wx3 2/2"dx6"h with fan installed

are great coolers though; one of the best!

oooo.... niiiicceee. We may have a winner.... for now. Unfortunately I live in New Zealand so I'll have to see if anyone sells it (the brackets) down under.

Also, I've been reading that some coolers come with average fans and getting a seperate fan can make a decent improvement in cooling. Whats the word on the fans on the 3 coolers I've mentioned above?

Whats the best fan bearings to look for? Some of the manufacturers use their own bearing "flashwords" so its unclear as to what they are actually constructed from.

Thanks for the info so far.

Actually I'm thinking maybe these coolers could be overkill for my purposes. Would a 90mm setup be enough instead of going up to 120mm?

Once again, any feedback is much appreciated.

I don't think any air cooler is overkill for a CPU like that with the temps you've been getting.

I can vouch for the Cooler 7 (I have the Cooler 64 Pro - same thing but for AMD), but I don't think it would be quite beefy enough for a quad core.

The Xigmatek looks good. Here in Canada, they sell the OCZ Vindicator 2 (I'm pretty sure that's what it's called), which I believe is a rebranded Xigmatek 1283 with a better fan, and it sells for $35CDN (and you can even sometimes get them with a $10 MIR).

I've read there is also one other "rebrand" of the Xigmatek.

You will enjoy the dead silence of these coolers. My Freezer 64's fan does not even spin when my computer is doing basic tasks like web browsing or watching a DVD.

OCZ Vendetta 2 maybe?

That OCZ rebrand of xigmatek seems to have higher airflow but somehow achieves this using the same fan speed/size, only louder? Time to google some reviews.

Thanks for the link btw, its easier to get hold of OCZ products as opposed to Xigmatek over here.
