get a 5GB iPod. If you buy it from Dell, you can get free shipping in certain cases and look for rebates, that'll bring the price down under $300 to say $250 or lower. The iPods are the best mp3 players out there, period.

Just get an MP3 cd-player. Their cheap, sound better and CDR's hold lots of music.

some people from www.ipodlounge.com claim that price drops are gonna happen soon (in a couple weeks tops). i hope they're right... though i haven't heard anything. might be a good idea to wait. it might drop the 5 gb price to $200...
now about those rebates at dell? how do you find them?

actually, i heard from a friend that they might be introducing something new, so all of the stores are running out of the old ones, therefore there will be a price drop.

Search for Rio 500. While you can't buy it new anymore, you can find them used in good condition for way below $100.00 IMO it is still the best flash media-based MP3 player.

Here is the skinny.. Toshiba announced that they will (or already have) discontinued 5GB 1.8" HDD's and came out with a 40gig drive. What we are likely to see are the same prices, except the current 10gig model will slide down to $299, 20 gig to $399, and 40 gig will sell for $499

If you are willing to spend $200, I would keep my eyes peeled on Ebay, where 5gig Ipod can be had at that price range, you'll just have to really watch it and act quickly. The other day I bought one for $220.00 shipped. Let me tell you, this thing is NICE!
