I'm looking for a good CD/DVD burning software. I'm aware of CDBurnerXP Pro.. haven't tried it, it seems cool, except apparently it has some drawbacks when burning DVD video?

Any other really good free burning apps?

Thanks

Are you so frugal that you can't afford to purchase a copy of Nero 6.6 for less than $10? :p You could try DeepBurner

No, I actually did buy Nero 6 for about $10. And I still use it.. but the thing is, as newer drive technology comes out and Nero 6 is outdated, I refuse to upgrade to Nero 7, 8, etc. They've created bloatware, Nero 7 now includes every damn software app thinkable, a bunch of excess crap I don't need nor want. I have no plans to give them my money anymore.

I use CDBurnerXP Pro. I won't touch that convoluted garbage Nero ever again after what it did to my machine. It's worse than a Symantec product now with all that fluff.

Exactly.. are you talking about Nero 7? Nero 6 isn't too bad. Nero 5 was better. Nero 7 sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen... I refuse to "upgrade."

Aikouka, can you tell me what this limitation CDburnerXP Pro has with burning DVD video? They claim there's a limitation...

Nero 6 Ultimate and Roxio 6 Platinum can do double-layer DVD's. I see no reason to move away from them.

Recommend the OP finds one of them dirt cheap on Pricewatch or Pricegrabber.

I would tell you if I knew, but I've never personally burnt a DVD Video using it.

Nero 6 wasn't too bad when I used it, but Nero 7 literally just froze up on me one day when burning. So I tried my other drive and it froze that one too, so both drives were locked up. I had enough of that, restarted, uninstalled, restarted again. Now I had no sound in some applications (stuff like Flash) and was unable to control the volume through things such as my keyboard.

It made it such a pain to watch a video on the web, I had to download each video using KeepVid and watch it in MPC just to be able to hear the sound. Nothing I did fixed the problem, short of when I installed a new OS on it.
