phd comics is about stanford grad students, I think in engineering.
crippling depression is about undergrad life at Caltech, but in my opinion it gets stale really quickly.

pretty much any webcomic is going to have a target audience of nerdy / geeky types.

It's geekfactor when off the charts on some of the later editions. It was getting way too nerdy for the Sunday paper when I started seeing programing code show up.
