...like the topic says. I have no need for 3D performance whatsoever...I need good 2D performance, good clarity, and would like to run 1600x1200 on each monitor (at the same freq) if possible. Each monitor is VGA so DVI is unnecessary. I'm willing to look at used/reconditioned if anyone has a good source. My cheap S3 Virge PCI card worked under Windows XP as a secondary adaptor, but alas that computer has been donated to the kids and I'm back to Windows 2000, where none of my old stuff seems to like dual monitor setup. Rather than try to replace the PCI or AGP cards I'm using now (or both), I think I'd like to try a card that has dual head support built-in.

I found this Matrix 450 at Newegg for $88. From what I know of this card, it will do what I want beautifully, but I wondered if anyone had a cheaper (than $88) solution. Did I mention I'm cheap?

I would go with the Matrox if you are concerned with image quality, it's just about the best 2D quality you will find.

Thanks for the replies. Image quality doesn't have to be crystal clear, but I don't want a real fuzzy display either. At smittybg's suggestion, I looked for the GF card on Newegg. I found this one, a "High Tech" Radeon 7000 VE with 64MB DDR, Dual VGA/TV-Out, for $37 shipped. If anyone has a compelling reason not to buy this one, please let me know. Remember, 3D performance is completely unimportant.

Thanks!
