Hey guys, my fiancee currently has some old HP 6MP Photosmart that is on its last legs, and she's been hinting that she really wants a new camera.

Obviously for her, and based off her previous camera, nothing professional needed, just something simple to use that takes a good picture.

I have a budget of $100-$150, give or take a couple bucks. Was looking at the Kodak C182 and Canon Powershot A480, but honestly I have no idea which ones are better and googling reviews wasn't a ton of help, oddly.

Anywho...any recommendations, would be appreciated! Thanks!!

Best Buy had Canon SD780IS cameras in black and red on clearance for like $115 when I was in one on Monday, that would be worth checking out if you have one local to you. Not bad for a camera that was $199 two weeks ago.

lawl.

Well I was leaning towards Canon anyway since when I did have a camera back in college, it was a Canon Powershot and it was pretty damn good.

Damn. 780IS for $115 is awesome. I paid $200 back in January for mine in black. IMO it is a great camera. SUPER small -- actually comparable to my RAZR v3 phone (just a tiny bit thicker). The 720p video looks great and the in-camera editor is easy to use to cut clips to length. I've got a bunch of Canon DSLR gear (see sig) and of course the photo quality doesn't compare at all, but the 780 fits in a front jeans pocket and can take some pretty darn good photos. I might have to swing by BB and pick up one in red for my wife.

Almost decided on doing the same, actually. She likes red.
