I plan to upgrade from my socket 939 AGP rig soon. The new system will be built around an e6400. The motherboard I'm looking at now is the Asus P5B-E since it is one of the few motherboards under $200 that have built-in firewire.

I'm stuck on the RAM choice. I hope to overclock the e6400 up to 3.0 GHz. I'm looking for RAM that will support this overclock. I was thinking of something along the lines of DDR2 667 for $220 or less.

Which brand or model should I choose?

Thanks!

Crucial, Gskill, Patriot, Corsair, any of them are good choices.

I personally like Crucial, and Patriot... but the others are good also.

Honestly, it doesnt really matter.

Go for the best deal, unless you wanna do some research and find out whos using elpeida chips on DDR667 so it overclocks to 800 easily.

Youre literally talking like 5% gains from the crappiest ddr2 you can find to top of the line ddr2 800.

Right now memory has gone up yet again.

A safe bet is G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ CAS4. If you havent heard of these then where have you been. They are high quality at a good price default 800mhz but the whole concensus is they all do a 1000+ and more than some 8000 sticks.

or maybe these

I heard good reports from A-Data Vitesse 8000 and it not so much.

Ocz is good but havent used.

If you want to be boring get corsair 6400 cas4.

Due to your requirements you wont need 8000 memory, 6400 will suffice but because of price increase 6400 is near to price of 8000.
