I'm looking for a silent, easy to install cooler for an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 running at 3.00 GHz (no overclocking). The case is full ATX with vertical motherboard mounting. Budget is $40-$50.

Use it without the fan. It's an excellent passive heatsink

I ran an Ultima-90 with a slowed down Scythe S-Flex and it was a great cooler and completely silent unless your ear was inches away.

Too bad it's not compatible with LGA1155, I'm considering trying to make some brackets for it so that it doesn't have to spend the rest of its life in a box beside my desk.
