Howdy,

Im building a new, and first home theater, and am looking at the Polk Audio Monitor 60's for front, and CS1 for center to start. (limited budget, i will add surround later). But i want a receiever i can use the next 4-5 years.

The Onkyo TX-SR607 seems to get glowing reviews, always goes on sale at slickdeals, between 350-400.....

EXCEPT ONE THING. It's achielles heel is its ability to make quality composite video, everyone complains about the sr606/607 and other onkyo mid/lower range recievers not being able to reproduce quality composite video. This is important to me because my gf plays the wii alot and i play alot of retro gaming such as n64/snes.

So i've done some research and come up to some comparable denon/pioneer recievers at around this price, but im looking for personal recommendations for a reciever that is of the same quality of the sr607, but can carry quality composite video feed.

Thanks!

Why not bypass the receiver for the composite video and go straight to your display. Something has to upconvert the signal, if the display does a better job than the receiver, use the display.
