Recommend cheap **microATX** Socket 478 motherboard.......

So this guy asks me to fix his PC 'cuz it won't do anything. Well, come to find out that puppy's dead as a doorknob!!!

I had another mobo at home........but as soon as I'd ripped the other one all apart I realized..................Aaarrrgghh!!! This mobo/case are micro!!! Teh suck!!!

So, as I was planning to have this thing wrapped up last night, I'm on "pause". Kinda' need to find a descent/cheap microATX board this weekend.

(I'd offer to build him a whole new system, except after pullin' this apart I realize it's a P4 3.06/533 Northwood w/ 1GB Spectek ram, etc.etc. Good stuff!!!)

Gigabyte or Asus with 865G. Plain and simple.

I know it's PCChips, but the chipset underneath is very good... It supports 800MHz FSB, Hyper-Threading, has an integrated VGA, but a spare AGP 8x port as well, SATA... For the price, this one will give him all he needs...

There are comparable ones (with the same chipset) from other brands for only some bucks more... Here you'll find different boards below $ 50...

I had a DFI 865PE-ML, nice board but bad OCer, no integrated video. I got a Asus P4S8X-MX, very cheap, SiS chipset with integrated everything, runs a 2.8 Prescott with no problems.
