There's a lot of good ones out there but I'd TT Typhoon probably balances noise and superior cooling the best. Another good one is thermalright xp120 but then you need to find the right fan which can be hard.

I love my Zalman CNPS7700-AlCu

It's cooling an X2 4400+ right now. I have the FanMate on it and have it running about half speed too. Great cooler. You will have to make sure it fits in your case and on your mobo though.

How do the TT blue / gold Orbs compare to the Zalman 7700's...?

Wondering because they are similar designs...!

Scythe Ninja and a 120mm Nexus fan. Incredibly quiet with wonderful temps.

Scythe Ninja demands little air for good/quiet cooling. It's a large vertical HS.
Big Typhoon demands much air for good/loud cooling. It's a large vertical HS.
SP-120 has some platform compatability issues. Not many but some.
SI-120 fits all current boards and chips=very resellable or to use for any future build.
Blue Orb is very large in diameter and heavy. Cools good for a non-heatpipe but is not quiet about it.
AC Freezer 64 Pro is highly under-rated. It cools very well according to review and what's been posted here
in the last month. It is inexpensive for what it offers.

I was going to buy a Asetek VapoChill for a P4 2.8 system that needs some up-dating. But after reading about the
AC 64 Pro, I just might buy the Intel model, the 7 Pro.
