I am part of a group (of roughly 8-12 people) that need to securely share files so everyone has access to the latest versions of everyone else's work.

We are in diff offices, behind their respective firewalls and IT support groups, so only a web-based solution would work. Main requirement is to be able to securely share confidential files. No online meetings / videoconf / photos / media etc is envisaged.

It would be super if the system automatically allowed each user to update / synchronize all his local files, but a manual /on-demand system would work as well.

I know of such sites as ibackup.com, and xdrive.com but it takes weeks to figure out if something really works for a group of ppl, so trying to find out if ppl here have used something and would recommend it

thanks for any help

With self-discipline, a $10 hosting account with only private FTP turned on (anonymous off) and an empty index page.

That assumes you don't need version control and other CVS/SourceSafe type features.
