I'm looking to get a wireless adapter for my computer that gets strong reception, plugs into a USB port and works well with Aircrack & the rest of Backtrack 4. Any recommendations?

Gotcha. Are PCI wireless adapters a better bet? USB would be more convenient for me but I can be flexible.

PCI Wireless adapters tend to have much stronger signal strength. My parents had a movable USB wireless adapter from linksys a few years ago, and it couldn't compete with the netgear PCI adapter we got for it.

In that case what's a good, reasonably priced PCI adapter that works well with Backtrack 4?

i just purchased this guy from newegg. waiting for it to come in so i can test it out.

I probably won't be using it for backtrack or anything as it's for my parent's computer upstairs. i just need a solid connection to the wireless in the house. I hope it works well because i willl be moving out soon and i don't want them to complain that their internet drops out.

this is an ultrasmall usb dongle but i've had good experiences w/ buffalo in the past.

They have a running list of tested PCI/PCMIA/etc Wireless cards :

most of thsee aren't for sale anymore unfortunately.

Strong reception and USB adapters usually don't go hand in hand i'm sorry to say

well from what i remember (im prob wrong but..) the cord length of a antenna on pci card shortens the strength of it, so a USB card would be stronger, i gave my friend a usb adapter with 20' usb cord and strong antenna built in so he could pick up signal from pretty damn far away.
