This is something I've been wanting to setup for a while but been putting on the back burner.

I'd like to setup a web based calendar on my main home server where I can setup reoccurring stuff like birthdays or one time stuff like appointments and such. I'd like it to email me a day or so in advance that an event is about to happen.

Anyone know of a free script/app that will do this? I want it to be web based so I can just logon to it from my browser. I'd also like it to use mysql that way it will already be backed up by default, but flat file is ok I suppose I can always make a new backup job.

Yes I could probably google but it's always better to get recommendations instead of running into free software that you have to pay for.

Besides the geek factor of running it yourself, why not just sign up for google calendar?

Was not aware of Google Calendar. Though I rather just have it offline so I take the middle man out of the equation. The odds of something going wrong with Google is next to nil but it's just a piece of mind. Also lets me customize it for my exact needs if I desire.

haha true.

And I just got it going, just have to test the auto alerts now. Once this is working I'll stop forgetting birthdays. :p
