Recommend a water cooling setup

I have to water cool a turbopump and some other gizmos at work. A small water pump with radiator and fan would be perfect, and I've seen a few of the external PC cooling kits which seem like they'd be just what I need, however, they are all powered from an ATX connector. I need to have it powered by the wall outlet as there won't be a PC nearby to draw power from.


I also don't need a waterblock or anything like that; some extra tubing might be nice though. I've tried using an ATX power supply, then jumping the pins etc, but it's too much of a hassle. I just want something simple that works. Any suggestions?
 
why not use a fish tank pump?

Theres a lot of inline pumps you can use for fish tanks that would work.

And what exactly are you watercooling? I dont know how much heat the objects you wish to cool will unload on the loop. So can you give me an approx number in terms of Watt?

The heat requirements are pretty low. I could get away without even using a radiator and fan. Right now the flow rate is about 1 litre/min or so and there isn't any radiator and it's perfectly fine.

The items to be watercooled are a high-vacuum turbopump and a quartz-crystal thickness monitor.
 
Copper tubing water jacket, heater core from junkyard, some aquarium pump like a Via Aqua.

Is there no cold water supply/return in your lab?
 
Okay, I got my hands on a free Thermaltake Aquarius III which will be perfect. The only problem now is how to power it. The only connection on the outside is a serial connector which I'm guessing has an adapter that connects to a standard 4-pin molex. I do not have the adapter, but I think I can make do without it.

I can just get a standard atx power supply, but I need to make sure that the tester switch will allow me to run the power supply the way I need without a motherboard present.

There is, but not in the closet where it's going to be 🙂

A little self contained unit is ideal.
 
I have the tester and i had it plugged into some fans and a hdd and they all spun up even though there was no motherboard connected when i turned on the tester.
 
Thanks all, I got it all working.

Used a regular plug-into-the-wall pump, then cannibalized the radiator from the Aquarius III, bought some tubing and fittings, and it runs beautifully 🙂
