I am putting together a system for my cousin. She isn't really into gaming and wouldn't have much use for a super powerful machine. She plays games like "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire", but that's about it. No Quake or CS for her. :)

Anyway, here's the system so far:

P3 600E
Asus P3V4X
256MB PC133
20GB Maxtor 7200
Teac 540E 40X
HP 8x4x32
SB Live Value
Linksys NIC
Inwin S500
250W Powerman PSU

What video card would you recommend for her? I'm thinking about the Abit Siluro Geforce2 MX for $62. I would really like to spend around $30 though, if I could get something that would be sufficient for her at this price, otherwise I'll just get the MX.

If you are going for a p3 system, get a intel chipset instead of via! In my opinion the only reason to get p3 or p4 is that it got a intel chipset instead of via.

Or you could go for a duron system.

Either way I would get another sound card. In that price range the hercules muse xl is great. And if you want some cheaper card get a aopen mw744.

Well, if you have no intention of playing any 3D games whatsoever, you could always get an ATI RagePro Turbo. Last I checked TCWO carried them for about $35. This is about as good as you're going to do for a decent graphics card. Other than that, I'd suggest a regular GF2 MX or MX 400 (not an MX 200).

Good luck! :D

IF it doesn't matter, why are you asking? Just buy something that costs 30 bux then.... an old TNT2 vanta, ATI, S3...etc...

At that price, you're going to get a "video card"

hehe, that's all you need right?

At least spend a few more dollars and get something faster than 600mhz? shesh.... :p
