I just recently bought an HP with onboard video. I want to get a graphics card to play the occasional game and also be able to upgrade to vista in the future.

I don't play games very often, so I'm not looking for something outrageously expensive. Just something I can chug away on the occasional FPS and of course, UT2007 whenever it comes out. I also don't need all the eye candy to be happy playing a game, as long as the resolution is pretty nice on my 19" LCD and it doens't stutter.

I don't really have a price range in mind. Ideally I would like to spend something in the $100-$150 if that will meet my needs, though I am not completely against spending up to $250 or so.

current PC:
Onboard video
2gb RAM
AMD X2 dual core 4200
250GB SATA

can be had for $140, quiet, should be good enough for 19" 1280x1024 gaming.

Your power supply is 375 watts? And we need your 12v+ rail amps.
A x1950 pro for 200$ is the best card in your price range ,if your power supply will hold up.

Buy a 7600GT. You can find them for less than $120. IMHO, an x1950 would be overkill and a waste of money. As you said, you are a light gamer, so it really doesn't make sense for you to go out and drop $200 on a graphics card unless the money doesn't matter.

How about an X850XT? Its in your price range and is a fairly decent card.
