I don't feel like I have a lot of choices here - I currently have a Dare, which is flaky, has bad battery life, no longer vibrates, and frequently comes unlocked and dials from my pocket. I'm just sick of it, so I've been looking at phones on Craigslist (not up for an upgrade until May, and I'm okay with buying a phone and selling my Dare for about the same amount).

I would love a smartphone or blackberry, but I just can't justify it at $30/month. I've been thinking of the enV Touch, enV3, and the Alias 2. The enV Touch looks awfully similar to the Dare, and I'm afraid I'd end up hating it too (even though everyone else loves it). I guess I'm just looking for some feedback/suggestions from other users who haven't liked the Dare.

Thanks!

All of those are good phones. My dad and a few of my friends have the Alias 2. I've messed with it quite a bit. It is a neat phone.
I'm not sure if they completely fixed the buttdialing problem on the enV 3 or Touch.

I know people with both the enV3 and Touch and they are all happy. I also know people who had problems with the Dare.

Sister has the enV Touch and it randomly calls people. Do not recommend.

Several people I know have the enV3 and I have heard no complaints. Recommend.

I do not know of any enV Touch owners that doesn't recommend.

DROID!!!!!!!!

Sorry just had to say it.

I'd love to get it but can't stomach the $360/year for data. That's a lot of moolah for a student with no steady source of income.

I also felt like the Dare's touch screen and menu were sluggish, or at least I noticed it more with time. I know the Touch's screen is improved, but I didn't know if there was still any of that delay when touching things (maybe it was the haptic feedback, don't know).

Get one off eBay and run it for $29.95/mos with 1200minutes 1200 texts and 50 mb data with PagePlus. You do have to bite the bullet at the beginning but after that you have the best phone/network combo period. The 50mb data will be an issue if you don't have wi-fi everywhere (I do) however.

Well, it's too late - I just got an Alias 2 in mint condition off Craigslist for $100 and set it up painlessly. I'll go ahead and sell my Dare for that much, so it doesn't really matter. If I want to, I guess I could get a Droid in a few months, but we'll see how I'm doing then. Until then, this is just fine.

Thanks for the input.

I think it's really cool how the keys change depending on orientation and what menu you're in, etc. I personally never liked candy bar phones, so here I can have a flip phone and also a full keyboard.

The menu can be a little laggy. I'm slow at typing, but that will improve with time. I like it on the whole, but I'll need some more time with it to form a more complete opinion.
