I want to start looking for a job I can take for a couple months (June/July) that has decent pay and a good amount of physical labor. I am thinking about Home Depot, as ther eis one near me... maybe do something in the back in the warehouse, etc. I need something to keep me busy and to get some exercise.. and I need the money before college.

Any other recommendations on what types of places I should look into?

i was thinking about home depot as well. They pay $10+ i believe, but one guy i know that used to work there, had the 5pm-2am shift said he had to refill the nail containers every night. He then cursed for a good 5 mins :p and said not to work there, so i dunno.

I was thinking about trying to get a morning shift.. I don't do anything in the morning/afternoon really, so I'd have my nights open.

construction companies usually offer summer jobs. That's "hard work", if that's what you're looking for especially during the summer. Goodluck!

i would think a bookstore is a great job. low stress, air conditioned (most of them) environment, and no heavy duty work

I did that one summer... pay was ok, but I don't have a car of my own (another reason why I need a job)

I think the pay is great. Tonight I made 45 dollars in tips in 4 hours + my hourly wage of $5.75 = $17 per hour. Not to mention you don't have to claim your tips :D Hell, you can't get an easier job :p The only downfall is the mileage put on your car, but you shouldn't have to worry much if you just take care of your car :)

The thing is, I'd have to use my dad's car, and if I got in the smallest accident (which has a higher than normal chance of happening in that line of work), the insurance company would flip out, because you were using your car for business purposes.. and you are supposed to pay higher premiums.

Well right now I work at a tiny hobby/dollar store... it is the lowest stress you could get... and I hate it. I literally sit there for 5 hours a day doing absolutely nothing. And just the way the store is, you can't really bring anything to do.. it's soooo boring. I need something where I can work all day and be tired enough to get a good full sleep.

thing about that is in the end you pay about 20 cents a mile to drive a car (that includes gas, wear, avg repairs, all the costs associated with having a car), that's a cheap rate, if you have a total piece of crap it will be a little lower, if you have a pretty good car it is at least 25 cents a mile. So it depends on how far you drive during a shift.

I'd definately go the home depot route. I work retail at walmart right now and it pays $7.32/hour which isn't bad considering I started at $6 but it's nothing to be bragging about. I would jump at the chance to work at Home Depot or a lumber yard. They are supposed to be tearing down the old Kmart here and building a Home Depot and I can't wait.
