my parents switched to FIOS for phone, tv, and internet.

they are paying a monthly rental fee for the Verizon router.

recommendations for a new router so they can send Verizon's back and stop paying that rip off fee?

thx

The FIOS Wireless Router is a decent Wireless Router fir none Enthusiasts.

I usually recommend to friend and family to buy it from Verizon instead of paying Rental.

Verizon charge about $90 for the Router and will put it on three month payment schedule.

The advantage of doing so is the Support. I.e., if One needs help, One can call Verizon instead of "bothering" family and friends.

If you have FIOS TV, then you will be provisioned with MOCA, and have to use VZ's router. The only way that I am aware of to get rid of the "rental" fee, is to purchase one from their store.

Nope, FIOS is a diffrenet Animal needs it own Bridge.

I can sell you two my Westell DSL Modem/Router, Very cheap. :)

The FIOS Modem is more of a Wireless Router than Modem.

The prevalent model is. Actiontec mi424wr - http://www.actiontec.com/189.html

It is a combo Wireless /b/g/n with Giga switch ports.
