Anybody here have any preferences? Brands they like more than others?

I was looking at this one...

Why is this one so cheap, compared to some others that go for over twice as much?

I had the Viper 130XV installed in my wife, and son's cars last year. It was installed by a reputable installer who did the job right.

These units:
  • Have tremendous range.
  • Will not allow the starter to spin while car is running.
  • Are fully customizable for duration of cranking, and run time.
  • Get used twice everyday the car is driven, all winter.
  • Can be transfered to your next car.
I won't do without one ever again!

I have an Autostart I installed back in February of 1999. I don't know the model number it's been so long.

Never had a problem with it in almost 7 years though.

My Range is not as great as what people say this Viper is though, but it's fine for me (starts from whereever in my house and at work ;) )

My dad was talking about someone he knew had one that was hooked up to his cell phone, so he could call from the train and the car would start

It's not actually hooked to the cell phone, it can be remotely started from any phone.
