*MEANT TO SAY ATX BOARD*

My son is getting ready to head back to college and will be staying in an apartment 3 days/week (home the rest of the week). He already has a surface pro for most of his work, but wants to be able to use his desktop for gaming and CAD. Rather than building another desktop, I want to change the computer case to something that is easy to transport. He'll have a spare monitor and keyboard/mouse at the apartment.

The new case has to be able to fit an ATX board. It's running a Core i7 4790K, GeForce GTX1070, a 250 GB SSD + 1TB HD. I can install an AIO, instead of the large air cooler currently in use.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Thanks for fixing the title. I wasn't able to figure out how to do it.

Budget: under $300
Right now, it's using a Noctua air cooler, but I can change it to water, if needed.
Portable, as in maybe something with handles, that is not too large. His current rig is using a full sized case that someone gave him. It's huge and weighs a ton. The main goal is for him to be able to easily transport it from home to his apartment and back.

Not sure you are going to get anything resembling portability with an ATX board. Combine that with an ATX PSU and you are just going to get something large and heavy.

i second the difficulty in moving.
Its obviously going to need coasters, and well those only come in the larger, and i mean much larger case.

There are some which are fairly easy to move around, but its not like handle optioned easy to carry out portable.

Your best bet is finding a cheap (maybe used) mITX board and transfer all the other components onto that, then get a cheap small mITX case.

That's what I'm thinking. A lot more options for portable mITX cases.

Thanks.
