Recommend a PocketPC

What is a good PocketPC to get? I want good performance, built-in 802.11b, a good screen (I like the 640x480 4" screen on the e800). I also want cheap expandable memory. My old (broken) PocketPC (@migo PD-600C) had a built-in PCMCIA slot which I liked as I could use my 2GB PC card hard drive, but new PDAs don't seem to have this (without an expensive and bulky sleeve). What are some good ones? Is CompactFlash or SD/MMC better? How realistic is it to use a compact flash -> pc card adapter? Thanks.

The best currently is the Dell Axim X30
It has a 624 mhz processor; it looks like pdas are catching up just as fast as laptops are. 😉
Theres no PCMCIA slot, but then again, none of the other new pdas have them either.

Actually, the other option you stated is also good. It has a weaker processor, but the screen resolution is higher, as you stated. Also, I like the stylishness of the e80x. The Axim can only handle 320x240 (or switched around, i forget).

Your decision depends on if you want a better screen or more power. I'm not sure about the flash memory prices. Personally, I would probably get the Axim, since I like more power. 😀

I don't think 640x480 is necessary really. At least not for me. I have an Axim X5. Excellent PDA, no troubles at all. The new ones are smaller and more powerful. I would go with the Dell and save the cash rather than the 640x480 screen. That may be better to have in the future, but current PPC apps just don't need it. Unless you do a lot of work with spreadsheets or PocketStreets then I don't think you'll need a larger resolution.
