Recommend A PC To PC File Transfer Program...

I have 2 computers networked that I want to exchange files between. I don't want to mess with file sharing and security levels between Win98SE and Win2k (the 2 OSs they use) since I don't do that much transfering. I have tried ICQ and I like the interface and everything, but when I try to transfer larger files I get a disk size error and it won't let the transfer go through. Is there anything similar I could use that would work better? Thanks.

Ftp

serveuFTP is easy to set up.

Tho setting up permissions would take under 5 minutes and work flawlessly.

yes, FTP, if you don't want to mess with permissions (though those are extremely simple)

What I meant was the enabling and disabling of file sharing (cable company told me to disable it) and configuring my SMC router (haven't been able to find a good guide for this yet). Do you think I should just go the filesharing route instead then?

yes

Well if you have a router, then you want have a problem file sharing over IP, the router has gives your machines its own local address's and so your machines are not visable outside, unless you tell your router to forward certain traffic to a certain machine. IE you have a web server so you point you 192.168.1.x (whatever the IP is might not be 192.168.1.x) 192.168.1.x is the standard, and then say port 80 to the IP. So if your router see's 80 it re-directs to the machine with that IP.

Yep, Serv-U is awesome.... so good I never bother trying any others. FTP clients are different though. I went through 5 of them and settled on Flash FXP, and may consider Cute ftp, and Terrapin again.

Which port would file sharing be over? I need to enable it in my Virtual server for my 2 computers, but I can't find which port it is. Anyone know?
