Recommend a page view/hit counter for free

Good morning !

Any recommendations on a free hit counter that doesn't use persistent cookies? Also I don't know if it is possible, but is there a javascript GPL one that doesn't require transacting with a 3rd party server?

If you just want to know for your own benefit, just install a stats package (logfile analyzer) to your server (like awstats) and you'll get that kind of information and more.
