A good friend (you know who you are) took advantage of a sale by budgethost.ca around this time last year and completely surprised me with a birthday gift. He picked up a resellers account for me that allowed for 1GB space and 10GB of bandwidth, all at the low price of around $30 for the year (normally around $60, but the owner was giving out a limited number of accounts for 50% off).
So, over the past year, I've enjoyed the constant uptime of the service. I've split the hosting with a friend, and neither of us have had any problems. I wrote an appropriate review this evening over at webhostingtalk.com. Unfortunately, we don't get the best speeds from the server. They have two server farms, one in New Jersey (where our host is), the other in Vancouver. Our download speeds are pretty slow, and we'd love something closer to home.
So, any reseller hosting out there that can come close? I understand that I'm getting an amazing deal right now for $30/year, and it's very doubtful I'll find anything worthwhile to match. Once I talk to my friend, I'm hoping to set our budget to around $60/year for a reseller account, but even that might be a tall order. We'd love to keep right around the 1GB/10GB limits, as those are perfect for us.
Also, if we can't find something closer with faster speeds, we'll just stick with our super discounted hosting for the next year....there's no sense in wasting such a good deal. Most users connecting to our sites are in the Cincinnati area, with my friend actually living in Houston.
Any suggestions at all? My current host isn't set to renew until March 1st, so I have some time to find someone and switch over if we find a good deal. I'd ask over at webhostingtalk, but I just don't feel like I can get honest answers.....I don't know how owns hosting services and who doesn't.
