First, how well do these work? Is it unreasonable to expect decent wifi performance? This will be the primary Netflix player for gf, so it needs to be relatively user friendly.

Also, preferably under a hundred, if possible. Thanks!

I recently bought a Panasonic DMP-BD87 because it was super cheap at Fry's. According to the reviews at Amazon I should not have bought it, but at $60 it was worth a shot. It was easy to get connected to my wireless network. It played the Netflix streaming movie flawlessly and the content was definitely HD.

I am not telling you to buy this model. I am merely showing you an example that reviews don't always paint the whole picture and that any player that reviews better than the so called POS I bought is probably going to be fine....since this one is for me. I like it, especially at $60. If it ever proves to be not so great it will simply get moved into the bedroom.

I have a Panasonic BDT210 that does really well. Outstanding PQ, Netflix built in, 3D output including upscaling. I got it for like $150 over a year ago and got a free 3D Blu Ray of Avatar with it. Not a bad deal at all.

I'd recommend the Sony BDP-S380..it is right around your price range (I found one for about $110, but try shopping around if you want it cheaper) and features plenty of streaming features, including Netflix. Also, it has fast loading times and decent quality, especially for this price. It lacks 3D compatibility, however. You might want to take a look at this review: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2391030,00.asp. Good luck!

lg 870 would be my 1st choice. I have had several Players and have found this one to be my favorite. They all have about the same picture quality but differ greatly in features and the apps they can run. The 870 has been replaced but is still available on Amazon. I bought 2 xtras just last week. The later models lack several features that this one has. The most important to me is the ability to zoom a 4:3 image into full screen size. Few players will let you do this on all the apps. This model has excellent performance. It is updated often, some times once a week. It has the ability to add or delete apps and you can choose which you want. It must have a lot of memory storage as I have many more apps than I would ever use. The 870 has built in 80211N wifi, which I have never used as a wired setup is always superior, in my experience. I have 3 of these running and bought a couple of backups as I can't see what more you could want in a player. It is 3D and works well, if that is of interest. Amazon has them on close out at a very cheap price. <$100.
