Good lord, I've just found the one person who likes "ethnic/world" music. Everyone point and stare.

I resemble that remark. What's wrong with ethnic/world music?

How is that even a genre? Do you just like music from everywhere but here? You and OP singlehandedly (or doublehandedly) support that section at Borders.

There are only a few options here.

The Matrix Reloaded (as much as the movie sucked)
LOTR: The Two Towers (helms deep battle)
LOTR: The Return of the King (Final action sequence)
Gladiator
Starwars Episode III (opening sequence)

LOTR?

Braveheart no lol. Maybe that's just because I hate Mel Gibson?

LOTR? Maybe, I'll have to think about it, definitely has good audio but they are long movies and I'm not sure they fit the occasion I have in mind. Would be nice if it was out in Blu-Ray too.

Hmm Gladiator is a good idea. No to Starwars! See above for LOTR. As for the Matrix it's a great sound showcase that's for sure but it really does suck! Are any of these out in Blu-Ray?

I think the matrix is HD-DVD exclusive right now right?

5th Element is indeed a great one for showcasing the system. But as a movie it sucks, although there are some artfully done visuals and imaginative cinematics. Haven't seen the Professional.

I was going to say Lost Highway but you didn't want rock and roll. Just listen to what other people say.

The Fountain

Is it any good? I was stoked before it came out, loved Requiem for a Dream, but the reviews are pretty bad.

I found The Fountain to be unwatchable. I loved Requiem btw.

sad but true. the movie was confusing and difficult to follow. Requiem is great though. but the standard reply of the LOTR trilogy applies here.

Left out others mentioned above except where I felt partial and the obvious non-wanted Mel Gibson related movies which most have excellent soundtracks ;).

The Power of One (Awesome soundtrack & movie)
Memoirs of a Geisha ("wordly" music and vivid colors & good movie)
Seven Years in Tibet (Awesome soundtrack & movie; a lot of cello by Yo-Yo Ma)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Hero
Last of the Mohicans
Dances With Wolves
Munich
Schindler's List
Legends of the Fall
Apollo 13
Road to Perdition
