I'm looking to build a new system in a couple of weeks around the following:

Athlon XP 2000
256 MB PC2700
60 GB ATA133 7200 RPM HD
GeForce4 4200 or 4400
SB Live
etc.

What KT333 motherboard would you recommend? I notice that many of them have sound on-board... Would any of them be better than the SB Live I am thinking of using?

Thanks.

Soyo Dragon Ultra is packed with features. On-board sound, lan, RAID, almost everything. Not crappy video though of course.

As far as sound, all I can say is try it out when you get it, see which you prefer. Some have regular AC97 I think some of them use a different soundchip. Either way I'd probably use the SB Live but it's a personal preference.

I really like the DragonUltra, but it is a bit pricey. A cheaper route would be the EPoX 8K3A+

Thanks for the link there Futga. My new Biostar came out either somewhere between bottom and middle on mosts tests which I was a little sad to see but....

Like you say, the differences are minimal and the board was very good value.

I see the article about installing 3 x 512mb...as far as I understand that test, since the Biostar says okay, I should be able to install 3 modules into my board (either 256 or 512mb PC2100 modules). Have posted this elsewhere too, would love to know.

Cheers,

Corm

Lots of good reviews from different sites so it may come down to features you need,go here for another KT333 roundup ,the MSI KT3 -Ultra ARU which is feature packed and the Epox 8K3A+ is a very good overclocker, are very good choices along with the Soyo.

Well, I'm starting to lean away from an Athlon XP based system, and toward a P4 1.8a overclocked system... The Gigabyte board looks nice there... Any comments?
