I'm in the market for a flash drive, preferably 512mb - 1gb. Where is the sweet spot in price/performance for these?

Don't get a 512 mb micro cruzer. It looks really cool, but is too slow. I was very dissapointed

Oddly enough, I have the Cruzer Micro and it is probably the best pen drive I have ever owned. I really don't have any problems with transfer speed.

Yep, I didn't think it was much faster than my 128mb USB1.1 drive...was very disappointed.

I'd have to say that a 1GB Lexar USB 2.0 would be hard to beat for less than $60 AR.

Personally... I picked a 1GB SanDisk Mini Cruzer a while back for about $50 AR. I haven't yet run a grueling battery of benchmarks on its speed. :p
But it has a ton of space and it works well.
Sorry, but I just use my USB drive to transfer files here and there, I don't have a RAID array of them. :D

Here's another vote for Sandisk Titanium Cruzer 512 MB. It's fast enough for me and it is one of the better looking ones out there. There is no caps to lose and it comes with a neat detachable neck strap or you can put it on your keychain. It is also pretty tough. The guys at CNET ran one over with a car just to show how durable it is. After they did that, they installed it on a laptop and it still worked.

I wouldn't want to try that at home, though:D

The main reason I went with the PNY was that it included a USB cable......
