Looking for something in the $1000-$1200 range. I know Panasonic makes toughbooks, but they seem a bit high. Aren't there some other durable notebooks out there made to withstand water, dust, and a drop from time to time?

You are not going to find a new ruggedized laptop (at least, not one that is worth its salt) in that pricerange. If that is truly all you can spend, buy the cheapest damn laptop you can with accidental damage protection and same/next day warranty replacement, image it regularly and just swap them out when they're trashed.

LOL. I had heard of it and jsut now clicked the link for the first time.

Heh. their version of tough is a nice looking screen and a coff-resistant keyboard:p

Panasonic's version of tough is having a Humvee run over you laptop and still being able to spend hours looking at crappy YouTube videos soon thereafter:p
