Well, since you brought them up, have they done anything in the last eight years or so? I have no recent information about them at all. 🙁

yes, they still release albums, they still tour. in fact, last year, they released a live classics album.

Inner Circle, Black Uhuru, Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Yellowman, Eek A Mouse, The Heptones. There's lots. If you are just looking for one great album, as suggested Steel Pulse's "Smash Hits" or "Reggae Greats" will be perfect for you.

The last I CD I bought of Steel Pulse was "Vex" which is a great CD but that was back in the mid-90s. I've kind of lost track of them. Any really good releases since then?

honestly, its been hit and miss, but their live album 'living legacy' was released a few years back* and was pretty good. but it featured the hits of their most recent albums, and the album was nominated for a grammy.

edit: lookin' at cduniverse.com/, they seem to have released a few albums and hit collections covering their latest hits recently. oh well, i still consider 'smash hits' to be a classic.

There's a million forms of reggae, be more specific. I am partial to dance hall and ska.

Thanks, maybe I'll sample a little bit of their latest and see if I can find a good collection on CD.

I remembered this thread from a while back, but I've currently been really enjoying Wyclef Jean's - Preacher's Son Album. Anybody else?

there are many types of reggae... i'm pretty sure you're talking about dub and/or rockers... (not dancehall)..
and you can never go wrong with Sanchez or Beres Hammond.
get a "sample" of Frenzy by Sanchez from kazaa or itunes or something.
it's one of my fav rockers chunes it'll give you a sample of his kind of vibe.
there are countless songs from Beres Hammond and Sanchez that move me as much as Bob's stuff.

go over to Toronto Lime click on music and reggae, they have
some good samples there..
while you are there go check out d soca songs.. now that's real music

this is a compilation of d best of sanchez before 1997 .. it has some hits.
but not all of his newer hits (this guy has over 17 albums ) Sanchez- one in a million
