Recommend a good Pinot Noir or wine in general

Saw Sideways recently ... great movie.

Made me want to try some Pinot Noir which I haven't before.
Usually get average price wine on sale ($10 to $20 pre-sale price)

So far I've tried

Pepperwood Grove 2003 $7.99 on sale ... Really good, especially for price

Fetzer Five Rivers Ranch 2001 $8.99 on sale ... OK .. sorta bitter aftertaste, not as
good as Pepperwood

Recommend Pinot's you've personally had and liked,
not ones that are highly rated that you haven't tried.

Kendall Jackson if you can get a older vintage like a 97-00, soft with a hint of cherry and blackberry, excellent. Also Sinsky Pinot Noir is overall a good choice.

2 very strong candidates for sub $10 wine are

Penfolds rawsons retreat or Penfolds koonunga hill shiraz-cabernet blend and Rancho Zabaco Dancing Bull Zinfandel. Hands down the best in my opinion sub $10 wines.

The Pepperwood was great .. (very) soft with nice hints of cherry and oak.

Five Rivers was pretty acidic and grape juice tasting

I was thinking about some Shiraz ..

Myself, I'm not much of a wine drinker ... I prefer (good) beer.

But my girl is, so I'm trying to get edjumacated 😉

You could try THIS kind.

edit: no offense meant, just saw the rant and then this, had to link it.

Louis Latour Pinot Noir is good.

Pelee Island PN. Is good and cheap, but I don't know if you can get it down there.

So I finally saw Sideways today myself, however I have been getting into wines well before I even heard of this movie. Now I am kind of worried that if I tell somebody about my fascination with wine they will say it was just because of Sideays.

Anyhow I had a Rober Mondavi that was pretty good. A bit on the fruity side for me, but it wasn't bad.

Ah, I see I have support from other ATOT members that you shouldn't drink Pinot Noir. Excellent.

People are impresionable, not movies.

Obvioulsy you guys are impressed by Maddox

The guy is a hypocrite.

Why does he try to be impressionable, yet, expect
people to not be impressionable with other things?

If you ripped me with your own words .. fine.

But linking to someone elses article just means
you are the same as me ... and if you're ripping me ... you're ripping yourself
