Recommend a good non-FPS game for LAN/WAN

I'm looking for a good game to play over WAN/LAN that's NOT a FPS. Age of Empires II is a good one, but a bit involved & time-consuming.

So, what would you recommend? Something fun and simple.

Total Anihilation

Action/RPG hybrid:

Diablo II

Racing:

NFS: High Stakes (I like it better than NFS: PU)

Starcraft or one of the Diablos maybe? never played either of those though. In the dorm rooms used to get large games of F-15 going. Need a few people to make it at all interesting though as two people basically shoot each other down over and over again.
