Recommend a good media reader...

1 requirement:
-slots that can only accept one type of media at a time should only show as one drive letter

It's a pet peeve of mine that you can see 8 or more drives when you can't physically have media occupying that many at once. It should only show enough drive letters to allow you to copy between media that can physically be inserted simultaneously.

I have This card reader and it only has 4 drive letters for the 4 slots. I've had it for a few months now and it has been working great. From the reviews it looks like somewhat of a hit and miss sometimes but me and my friend both have one of these and have no trouble with it.

Hmm...doesn't support many formats.

Also, I forgot to mention that I'm looking for an external reader. I need to adhere it to my desk using mounting tape. A flat low-profile design with activity lights positioned on the front would work well because it will be fixed to my desk with tape on the top (mounting it above the keyboard tray).
