Bushmills is rather smooth.

I think I prefer Maker's Mark for a blended whiskey, though.

13-ounce bottle = 10 1.25oz shots

to drink straight?

SoCo, Jagermeister, or a flavored rum or vodka.

The only way that ends a whiskey thread is if everyone is laughing at you so hard they can't continue. JWBlue is the ultimate poseurs drink, the proclaimed preferred Scotch of people who don't know anything about Scotch.

Spirit or liqueur?

If spirit then a semi decent Brandy or a dark Rum is good for sipping.

If liqueur then who cares, all you can taste is sugar and its going to make your head feel like its going to explode in the morning if you manage to drink any amount of it.

I was a bartender for many years, and have tried most of the "elite" vodkas, but Tito's blows them all away. It's a bonus that it's cheaper and made in Texas.

Interesting. I actually prefer Ketel One to almost anything. Have you tried Hanger One though? That is my ultimate favorite, but it's a little spendy so I usually go Ketel. I think Tito's is a little more "grainy" or something. Maybe I'm just not used to it. It's still awesome stuff for sure.
I think too many people tout Grey Goose as "THE BEST" vodka, when IMO it isn't. It's definitely good though don't get me wrong.

most vodka is actually distilled by a large corn conglomerate like ADM or conagra. the only thing the 'vodka' companies do is filter it and market it.

tito's makes their alcohol themselves.

dang, I need to try some Tito's. What is the normal price on a 750? USA distilled appeals to me.

I'm a big fan of Svedka. The value is simply awesome.

I've heard great things about Hangar One, but haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. Considering that I can find no flaws with Tito's, H1 would have to be spectacular to justify the higher price (for me, as always ymmv).

Well I think I'm going to go Whisky today then! Thanks guys. Not sure what brand, will probably just get something cheap as I don't want to spend too much. But I'll keep these brand recommendations in mind for some time when I feel like spending a bit more.

You should be able to get a 750 ml bottle for about $20. Once you try it, you'll realize that it's an absolute steal.

I gotta say, though-- ~$10-13 for 750 of Svedka is damn awesome.

I don't like Vodka, though--well, I won't drink it straight, so this is perfect for me.

I'll try some Tito's at some point, though.

if you are drinking it straight make it a liqueur instead of a liquor. doesn't burn as much going down. :p

I can't drink much anymore but when I did it was Glenmorangie or Crown on ice.
