Recommend a good drill/driver

Can anyone recommend a good drill/driver kit for ~$100 or less. Cordless would be nice, but I think for the price I want to spend, corded would suit me better. It will be used mostly for drilling through wood, (occassionally stucco/concrete with a masonry bit). I don't know what brands are good or what things to look for in a drill other than that.

There are no good cordless drill/drivers for less than a $100. There are cheap ones in that price range. Ryobi makes pretty good "junk" tools. Do yourself a favor, bite the bullet and buy a quality tool.

Thats why I said I'd go with corded.

You might want to look at the Craftsmen line @ Sears...decent prices and come from the same company that owns Porter-Cable and Dewalt...

Bosch also makes some nice tools at a decent price...for just general use around the house...you can find something around $100...

You can get a crummy cordless power driver and drill set for less than 100 bucks.
Or you can get a good plug-in drill for a hundred bucks.

Its up to you, keep in mind the good drill will be around long enough that you can eventually buy more tools.
The cheap cordless items will likely die or break soon and you'll have to get something else right away.

Bosch, Makita, Milwaukee, and Dewalt all make good corded drills. Just get one with keyless 1/2" chuck (may be standard on all now), variable speed trigger, and reverse switch.

EDIT >> 1/2" may be hard to find under $100, but would be nice to have. 3/8" should suffice for >90% of home uses.

I have that one, the chuck sucks. The jaws are to far back inside the chuck, so it doesn't like to hold short fat bits. Been trying to kill it for the last 5 years and the damn thing just wont die.
I buy a lot of referb gear from tool king, prolly 1.5k last year and never got a dud. Here is a pretty good drill/driver in your price range, it IS a REFERB.
