Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. Just read it. And then read Story of B, also by Daniel Quinn.

lord of the rings series. but I'm assuming you're normal which means you would have read the book by now, so another suggestion would be john grisham books.

A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin.
3 out so far. listed in order are
A Game of Thrones
A Clash of Kings
A Storm of Swords.

The third one is the best, but the first one will give you a lot of insight into the story, even if it is a lil slow to get going. These are my favorite books.

Any book in the Xanth series by Piers Anthony - he has a great way to twist words around
Brain Droppings by George Carlin - he has an even better way of twisting words around
Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard - I waited years for the movie only to be grossly dissapointed
The Mission Earth Decalogy by L. Ron Hubbard - aliens can be funny, especially on Earth

Just my two cents, which thanks to inflation was my half-dollar last week...

I recently read "Treasure Box" and "Lost Boys" by Orson Scott Card, the author of the sci-fi classic "Ender's Game." These are a real change of pace for him - not really sci-fi, more mainstream - but I liked them quite a bit.

Man cant believe no one has mentioned The Wheel OF Time Series.....by Robert Jordan...

These books are huge and will take up lots of time.. other fantasy books, any book by David eddings...his books are pretty good laced with a lot of humor. I second the George R Martin books those are good readings also. But definetly check out the wheel of time series specially if you are into fantasy.

any book by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. I particularly liked Rip Tide, but all of their books that I have read have been very good. Their most recent is the ice limit, and it is a very good read.
