Eons ago, that book was "Up the Organization", but today there must be one or two excellent books which teach a person how to be a smart consumer in all respects. The book should be simple and EASY to read--not something you'd look at and say: "Um, I'll read that later".

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure about any books on being a smart consumer. However, there are newsletters out there about being very frugal. The one that I remember was written by a couple in Maine. They purchased many of their items in bulk, used lots of coupons, etc. I seem to recall that they only filled up about 1 trash can of garbage in a year because they belonged to a food co-op and used their same containers which they refilled with rice, flour, etc.

Then again, if you hang out long enough in the Hot Deals section of this forum, you'll earn an "Honorary Degree" in Consumerism.
