I have a plantronics that works only halfassed. You have to hold the phone about 6" from your ear to get acceptable performance. If you don't, it's staticy and tends to disconnect.

Judging by the reviews on Newegg, they all pretty much suck. Anybody have any luck with these?

TIA

Any idea where I can get the jawbone? Their website says all models are sold out.

The newegg reviews of the Blueant and the Pantronics v510 aren't very flattering. Granted, a lot of people who review products on Newegg don't know what they are talking about, when I see others having the same issues I have had with my current Plantronics (extremely poor range and staic) I tend to believe they are telling the truth.

I just don't want to end up with another that's just as bad or worst.

Thanks for the help.

I just bought a JawBone yesterday from Abt Electronics (B&M).

Their website is www.abtelectronics.com.

I've only used it one night so far, but I am very pleased.

It comes with left & right ear loops, and four different soft pads to adapt to your ear shape for better noise blocking.

Good Luck

It's not listed on the Abt website but I did find it here in stock

Kinda pricey but if it works, it's worth it.

How comfortable is it?

I wore it for a few hours last night with no discomfort. Being that it is a tad chilly here near Chicago, I also wore it under a watch cap with no problems.

My main b!tch at this point is the little rubber cap that covers the charging port on top ... it's not captive, and I've knocked it off a couple times already. Fortunately I saw/felt it come off and was able to recover it, but I got a feelin' that it ain't long for this world.

What I *do* like alot is that it's chargable from a USB port, and they give you an AC/USB charging cube ... so you can charge it from a computer, or you can charge it from a wall wart.

Glad to hear you found one.

Good Luck

Thanks.

My current Plantronics has the same problem wit hte charge connector. It came with a charging cradle for use in the car and it works pretty good but the usb charger just sorta snaps in. I have to make sure I lay it just right or the charging cable will fall right out. The only 2 complaints I have with it are range and static. According to Plantronics website, you should wear the headset and the phone on the same side of your body. This is BS considering it advertises a range of 33ft. But even if the phone and headset are on the same side, it still doesn't work very good. Now if I hold the phone about 2" from the headset, the static disappears and the signal is crystal clear. But if I have to hold it 2" from the headset, what do I need the headset for? That this is a common complaint about these things. They should either fix them or take them off the market.
