It doesn't have to be anything super fancy, but I don't want a hunk of junk either. High contrast ratio and non-glaring screen will be a huge plus as it will be in a very sunny room. $1000 is my limit really, so the lower the better without sacrificing a ton of quality.

Thanks.

I just picked up this Sharp from Dell: http://accessories.us.dell.com...dhs&cs=19&sku=A1977316

Before anyone says anything, yes I know this is a more mid-low level LCD, but it is my first LCD TV coming from a 26" 5 year old CRT and Im sure I will find it very impressive.

Dell had that tv on sale for black friday at $779 and with my DPA, I got it for ~$755.

Yeh I was tempted to get that one too. I just couldn't pull the trigger though.
I have a 27" LCD in the bedroom and a 36" CRT in the living room. I;m not overly worried about the PEREFCT quality TV.... mid-range is more than enough for my viewing. I ahve better things to spend the extra money on.

Same here, I have other things I need to spend my money on and while this tv is not the best, it will be 10 times better than what I currently have.
