I already asked this question before, but no one helped me. so I'll try again
I need a descent LCD Gaming Monitor within $150-300 price range.
I dont understand this business about dead pixels and responce rate, so I'm leaving it to you.

Thanx a lot for your help.

A dead pixel is a pixel that doesn't work (i.e., is a solid color that doesn't change). If that's unnacceptable, buy from somewhere that will replace it for you. In terms of refresh rate for gaming, you're going to want to look for one that has a 16ms response time or lower. Good luck- pricegrabber.com is your friend, but you can always trust newegg.com for the best service. Don't forget to read the fine print about dead pixel replacement, though.

Any monitor with a <15ms response rate will be more than enough as a gaming monitor. Depending on how good of a video card you have you'll have to choose the size of the monitor. LCDs looks really ugly when they're not run on their native resolutions, so if you have a dinky vid card it's either smooth but ugly or pretty but a slideshow.

Newegg has plenty of LCDs that are on sale everyday, mostly 19'', check them out and google up some reviews.

PS, it's spelled "decent"

the hyundai that he mentions is very good, 8ms response, 700:1 contrast ratio, and i believe it is about $310 at tigerdirect but the dell is like $400+

I vote no. I vote for Viewsonic VP930b. The L90 is just like the Samsung 930B which is a piece of crap 6-bit TN panel. Colors are disgusting and while it's fast, it sucks. The Viewsonic VP930b has a 8-bit panel, and 8ms gray-to-gray times and 20ms white-black time. The response is slightly slower, but the average is around 13 - 14ms. So it's fine. I use it and I will tell you I will NEVER go back to a TN panel having used both monitors SIDE by SIDE
