My Bell contract is coming to an end soon (great) and I need a new cellphone. I don't know that much about them, at least relative to what I know about other electronics anyway. I'm in Canada, planning to go with 7-11's Speakout pay-as-you-go. I don't use it enough to justify a contract.
Must be:
-- Quad-band (I go to the UK frequently)
-- Unlocked phone, not only available with contract or locked
-- Not a clamshell, I don't like them. No preference for slider or bar-shaped
-- Good audio quality and reliable reception
-- Good display
Useful but non-essential:
-- Camera of passable quality
-- Internet with wi-fi access (data plans in Canada are stupid expensive, no smartphones please)
-- MP3 player (I have a video iPod for long trips etc)
-- USB hookup
Unimportant:
-- Long battery life
-- Bluetooth
-- Memory/storage
-- PDA
Budget is up to $300.
So far I think the Nokia 5300 seems like the best fit, but I'm getting different answers on the GSM bands it supports.
