We're about to undertake a fairly big upgrade process at work and trying to work out a reliable supply deal that doesn't screw us over quite as hard as Dell (noticed several times that buying with a Partner discount is more expensive than retail). I pressed our sales rep for better prices last week and got next to nothing out of him. Unfortunately we're buying on an as-needed basis rather than a bunch of machines up front so we don't have a ton of leverage.
I was shopping around and saw a bunch of companies on Amazon that sell Latitudes and Thinkpads with SSD and RAM upgrades around the $400-700 range. Those would be great if they came from a reliable business with a solid RMA policy that we could establish a supply contract with. And that doesn't bundle pirated Windows like I saw in several reviews.
Looking for at least an i3, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD, USB3, business-class construction, dedicated trackpad buttons, and not-terrible screen for <600/ea. Anything Ivy Bridge or newer should be fine. Seem reasonable? Got any vendor recommendations?
