Anyone have some good experiences with some particular models? Preferably something available on amazon.ca, but anything available in Canada is fine.
I want to use it as a backup battery for Nexus 5, something ~3000 mAh is quite ok, that's about one charge, should be more than enough.

I'm somewhat debating if I even need it, I have a charger in the car, so pretty much the only time I'd need it is when I fly to Europe, which is something I do once a year (and sometimes skipping a year). I always have a layover, this year it's 8+2 hours of flight, on the return flight layover is 5hrs, plus some time before/after flight, altogether I need 18-20 hours of battery life, and since I plan to listen to music a lot, maybe use wi-fi during layover, take some pictures etc, I'm thinking one charge is not going to last, battery life isn't a strong point for Nexus 5. And I don't know if I'll be able to charge it during the trip.

Since it would be so rarely used, I want to keep it under 20-30$, something compact.
This Aukey is lipstick sized, going for 13$ right now
This Anker looks nicer, but is pricier at 25$, there are some higher capacity ones close in price like the following:
Allpowers - although it's a kind of big and I doubt I will be able to utilize bigger capacity.

Any recommnedations/experiences are appreciated.

LOL, 0 replies, I guess I don't need one either.
They seem cool, replacement batteries on the cheap, just very limited usefulness. I hope the airports nowadays have places to charge in abundance...

I got this one but have never had to use it. It's nice because it has a pass-through feature so you can charge the backup while it's plugged into the phone. That might be the only way to charge it though, I'm not sure.

But check recent reviews. It was $26 when I bought it 2 years ago now it's $7.

I have one of the big 5-port Ankers, love it. I hate having to dig out the charging cord and trying to find somewhere to plug something in, in between all the other people doing the same thing.

I have a larger RAVPower that's been totally solid. They make a smaller 3,000mAh one that is well liked: http://www.amazon.com/RAVPower-Port...words=phone+charger&refinements=p_89:RAVPower

look for the one that has btw 10000 and 14000 mAH. most come with more than one USB prot . so you can use it to charge multiple devices at the same time. they r usually cheaper than $40.

Thanks guys for the suggestions, some of them are interesting.
I'm not too interested in 10000+ mAh, even if the price is marginally higher than the much lower capacity ones. I've still not decided whether I should get one in the first place - realistically I'd only use it 5-10 times during its lifetime (5 years or so), so it's rather hard to justify a purchase. I don't have a tablet/laptop, only the phone so single output is ok. There's the added weight for the bigger batteries as well, and the capacity would most likely never be fully utilized.
I might still "impulse" buy something...
