Can somebody please recommend 4K 34"-42" monitor?

Text/Image quality is the most important aspect
Need good uniformity ability to calibrate the color for photo work
Widescreen is fine as long as it is x by 2160.
PC only - DP, HDMI
60Hz is fine, I guess
Price not that important.

There are so many models, panel types, etc that I've gottonen lost frankly.

Should I consider a TV??? Some have said that something like Sony x800h might do in this case.
Others however, said that this is a horrible idea.

Please help!

That would be my starting point I think. If that's too much money then there are other options but that is about as good as it gets right now in the normal monitor space. Reference monitors exist, of course, but they're hardly suitable for use outside of a feature film editing bay.

34-42" is a real dead zone for quality screens - not sure where you find "many models' :O
All the good panels are at 32" (e.g. the two mentioned above), or you can consider a 48" OLED. Everything in between is either low resolution ultra-wide (so no 2160 vertical) or those cheap 43" screens, which I think share at most two different panels (one MVA, one AH-IPS), neither off which is great for color accuracy and gamut.
Except for two 34" ultrawides with 2160 pixels vertical, which are probably too small for you.

The potential breakout candidate is likely to be LG's new 40" 5120 x 2160 panel which will be sold as a Dell screen and an LG screen starting pretty soon.
The Dell at least is being hyped as being color accurate out of the box, high gamut, and hopefully comes with a few profiles pre-confgigured.
I'm personally still skeptical about contrast (bad local dimming usually being worse than none, with those halos) and uniformity, which is a real issue for those large screens.

Is 43" too big? I doubt you can beat Acer when it comes to bang for the buck:

I have 2 of the older ET430K monitors and I effing love them.
Edit: probably not that great for photo work...
