Recommenations for Genealogy Software.

Hey all.

My Dad's birthday is coming up and my mom wants to get him some genealogy software but she doesn't know anything about it -- nor do I -- and she asked me to help. I know I can research on Google and I plan to, but it'd be nice to hear from anyone with firsthand experience. I don't really know what the budget is -- she just said reasonable. I'd guess that means $100~ and lower?

I can recommend two. First, probably the most used and most popular in genealogical circles is Family Tree Maker.

Next, for an advanced genealogist, The Master Genealogist.

Most genealogical societies and organizations have Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for these packages. Both are well within your budget.
